I could NOT read that book to my children without crying because it was so representative of the self sacrifice of motherhood. And then the realization that... wait, will they only appreciate the things we did for them when they're old and we're a stump?! (also applicable to the way society devalues the work and sacrifice of modern motherhood)

Agree, I boycotted the Giving Tree. We do not have a copy! It’s abusive!
